TAMBURICA MADE THE OLD CLOCK RUNNING…
Thanks to the donation of the World Tambourine Festival, the famous Clock Tower on the Petrovaradin Fortress was completely renovated. Indictments old for an hour – tower of the Bastion of St. Louis, of which, it is unique, small minutes are recorded, and great hours, again, since October 2013, show time to freighters, travelers to the intentions, residents of Novi Sad, Petrovaradin … Reconstruction of the famous clock, delivered at the beginning of 18 century from Alsace, from France, as a gift from Empress Maria Theresa, was completed after two months of work thanks to the donation of “Tamburica festa” of 800,000 dinars and with the consent of the JP Commercial Space and the supervision of the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments. The renovation of the clock, which is a symbol of the city, included reparation of the facade, restoration of the external side of the mechanism – punches, replacement of gauze, gilding of parts of the windshield and cleaning of the interior of the watch. – Tamburica Fest organizers showed a high level of awareness of the importance of investing in the community. We consider the works on the Petrovaradin Fortress extremely important, and any assistance in the restoration of cultural heritage is especially important – said Milanka Brkić, a member of the City Council for Culture.
