ON THE REQUEST OF THE AUDIENCE, “TAMBURICA FEST 2016″ WILL EXPAND TO FIVE DAYS, FROM 21st TO 25th JUNE

AN INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL ON INTERNATIONAL MUSIC DAY INSTEAD of three festival days, as was originally planned, “Tamburica Fest 2016″, the international ninth festival of the tamburitza tradition keepers, due to the great interest of the audience, will run for five days, from 21st to 25th June and will be held in the centre of Novi Sad and the Petrovaradin Fortress. This was confirmed by Jovan Pejčić, PhD, the Festival Director, who emphasized that “Tamburica Fest 2016″ starts on 21st June, on the International Music Day, as a support to the City of Novi Sad’s candidacy for the European Capital of Culture 2021. The admission for the opening four festival days will be free while the presale tickets for the closing fifth festival night at the Petrovaradin Fortress, when the winners will be announced and the prizes awarded, cost 500 dinars. – The events on the opening days of this year’s “Tamburica fest” will take place in the centre of Novi Sad, from 21st to 23rd June. 15 tamburitza orchestras will entertain the citizens of Novi Sad in the “Tamburitza promenade” on the Liberty Square, in the Catholic Churchyard, Zmaj Jovina and Dunavska Street, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.- says Pejčić.- Fijakerijada, a traditional carriage procession, will be held on Thursday 23rd June, along with the orchestra performances of Vasa Jovanović orchestra, Mesečina and Đorđe Čavić orchestra and folk dance concerts of the Cultural Associations, all taking place on the Liberty Square. 10 orchestras from seven countries will participate in the competition for the prestigious festival awards at the Petrovaradin Fortress. On Friday 24th June, tamburitza orchestras “Sremska banda” (Serbia), “Zorule” (Serbia) “Garavi” (Croatia), “Crnogorski tamburaši” (Montenegro) and “Mohácsi Tamburások” (Hungary) will take the challenge while the legendary ZvonkoBogdan with his tambura players and the orchestra “Dijako” from Djakovo will perform in the exhibition part, the same evening. The closing festival night, Saturday 25th June, will show the competition of the orchestras “Bečki tamburaši” (Austria), “Zlatna suza” (Romania), “Uspomena” (Croatia), “BL Merak” (Serb Republic, Bosnia and Herzegovina) and “Tajna” (Serbia). The exhibition part will host the band from Novi Sad “Hercen Šlus” and the festival will end with the performance of Halid Beslić and his orchestra and Zoran Kalezić as a special guest.
